Seattle Kraken play in the Western Pacific.

Seattle Kraken overview

The Seattle Kraken became the NHL's 32nd franchise when they began play in the 2021-22 season, bringing the league to the Pacific Northwest. They compete in the Pacific Division at Climate Pledge Arena, a rebuilt venue that preserved the historic roof of the 1962 Seattle Center Coliseum. In just their second season, the Kraken won a playoff series by eliminating the defending champion Colorado Avalanche in seven games. For bettors, Seattle is a Pacific time zone market with late starts, long eastern trips, and a short regional rivalry with Vancouver.

Betting insights

Seattle home games typically start at 7 p.m. Pacific, so late lines and goalie confirmations often arrive after East Coast bettors have settled their cards. Geography is the biggest structural factor in Seattle's schedule, since the Kraken log some of the longest travel miles in the league. Vancouver is just a short trip north, making Kraken-Canucks back-to-backs a low-travel spot. The Kraken's trips east cross three time zones, and teams returning home from such swings can start slowly. When Seattle is an underdog, the moneyline usually offers cleaner value than the +1.5 puck line.
