How our NFL picks work
Each pick is the market favorite: the team with the shorter moneyline price, which is the side the betting market rates more likely to win. It is the market's view, saved with its price, so you can check how favorites do week by week. We are building our own team ratings, and once they are live we will post a pick only when our number differs from the market by a set margin.
How to read NFL odds
Moneyline. You pick the winner. As of Oct 31, 10:16 PM ET, the Cincinnati Bengals are -714 against the Tennessee Titans. That means you risk $714 to win $100, and the price implies about an 88% chance. The Titans at +575 pay $575 on a $100 bet, about 15%.
Spread. The favorite has to win by more than the number. The Dallas Cowboys are -7 against the Arizona Cardinals at MyBookie, Bovada, BetOnline and BetUS. A Cowboys win by 8 or more covers. A 7-point win is a push, and your stake comes back. Anything less loses. Cardinals +7 wins if the Cardinals lose by 6 or fewer, or win.
3 and 7 matter most because many NFL games are decided by a field goal or a touchdown with the extra point, so half a point around them changes the price.
Total. You bet on the combined score, Over or Under. As of Oct 31, 10:16 PM ET, the lowest total this week is Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers at 39.5, and the highest is Arizona Cardinals at Dallas Cowboys at 54.5. Over 46 at -110 on Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions wins if the teams score 47 or more combined.
Why the price matters
Most spreads and totals are -110 on both sides. Each -110 implies 52.4%, so the two sides add up to 104.8%. That extra 4.8% is the sportsbook's built-in margin, also called the vig or juice. It is why you need to win 52.4% of bets at -110 just to break even.
The four sportsbooks we compare prices at don't always agree. As of Oct 31, 10:16 PM ET, the Raiders are +107 at Bovada and +101 at MyBookie. A $100 bet wins $107 at one and $101 at the other. On the Seattle Seahawks -3, the price is -110 at Bovada and -120 at MyBookie. At -110 you break even at 52.4% instead of 54.5%. Make 50 bets in a season to win $100 each, and -110 instead of -120 means risking $5,500 instead of $6,000 for the same wins.
How we track our record
Every pick is published before kickoff, with its publish time, and is never edited. After the game it is graded won, lost or push. Losing picks stay on this page and in the record. The record starts October 8, 2026, and counts every pick published since then.
NFL picks FAQ
What is the market favorite?
The team with the shorter moneyline price, like -150 against +130. The price reflects how likely the betting market thinks each team is to win.
Why are your picks on the moneyline, not the spread?
The moneyline favorite is the market's straight-up view, with no spread to argue over. The spread and total for every game, with the best price at the four sportsbooks we compare, are on our NFL odds page.
When are NFL picks posted?
Once one of the four sportsbooks we compare posts a moneyline for the game, and always before kickoff. A game without a posted moneyline has no pick until one is posted.
What happens if an NFL game ends in a tie?
The pick is graded a push, so it counts as neither a win nor a loss.
