How to read this odds board
Each row is one game and each column is one sportsbook. Pick a tab for the bet you want: the moneyline is who wins, the spread is the winning margin, and the total is the combined score. On the spread and total tabs, the number above each price is the line. The best price on each side is highlighted when at least two books price it; tap any price to open that book. A minus price shows what you risk to win $100 and a plus price shows what $100 wins, so a smaller number after a minus, or a bigger one after a plus, is the better price. OFF means that book hasn't posted the line yet.
Line shopping: an example from this board
The same bet can pay different amounts at different books. Shopping takes seconds on this board: find your side, look for the highlighted price and bet there.
What moves MLB lines
Lines move when the books' view of a game changes or when money comes in heavily on one side. In MLB, the starting pitchers move prices most, then the lineups and the weather: wind at the ballpark can move a total. The spread here is the run line, usually 1.5 runs.
When MLB lines are posted
MLB lines usually go up the day before a game, once the starting pitchers are known. A change of starting pitcher can move a price a lot. Lineups are posted a few hours before first pitch and can still shift the line.
MLB odds FAQ
Why do the four sportsbooks have different prices?
Each book sets its own lines and adjusts them to the bets it takes, so the same bet can be priced differently at the same moment. That's why we show all four side by side.
Why is there no price from one book?
OFF means that book hasn't posted the game, or that bet, yet. We show only prices a book has actually posted, and its logo still links to the book.
How often are the odds updated?
Through the day, and more often in the hour before a game starts. The time of the last update is above the board. Check the price at the book before you bet, because lines move.
Which price is highlighted?
The best price on that side across the four books: the one that pays the most for the same bet. A price is highlighted only when at least two books price that side.
