San Francisco 49ers play in the NFC West.

San Francisco 49ers overview

The San Francisco 49ers began play in 1946 in the All-America Football Conference and joined the NFL in 1950. Owned by the DeBartolo-York family since 1977, they compete in the NFC West with the Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks. Since 2014, the 49ers have played at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, about 45 miles south of San Francisco, after decades at Kezar Stadium and Candlestick Park. With five Super Bowl titles and a history of innovative offenses, the 49ers are one of the league's most decorated franchises.

Betting insights

Levi's Stadium is open-air with natural grass, and early-season afternoon games in Santa Clara can be hot, especially on the sun-exposed east side. Weather rarely becomes extreme, so totals are generally driven by matchups. Recent success and a national following have made the 49ers a popular betting side, so lines can carry a premium in primetime and against division rivals. NFC West trips are short except for the long flight to Seattle, whose loud stadium has historically been a tough road venue. East Coast games involve early body-clock kickoffs, and how the 49ers handle 1 p.m. Eastern starts has been a recurring topic for bettors.
