Pittsburgh Steelers play in the AFC North.

Pittsburgh Steelers overview

The Pittsburgh Steelers were founded by Art Rooney in 1933 as the Pittsburgh Pirates and took the Steelers name in 1940. The Rooney family still controls the team, and its stability is legendary: since 1969 the franchise has employed only a handful of head coaches, beginning with Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher. Pittsburgh competes in the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns and plays at Acrisure Stadium, formerly Heinz Field, where the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers meet to form the Ohio. With six Super Bowl titles, the Steelers share the record for most championships of the Super Bowl era.

Betting insights

Acrisure Stadium's natural grass surface has a reputation for being difficult, partly because the field is also used by the University of Pittsburgh, and kickers have long cited the swirling wind at the open south end. Wind forecasts are important for totals and field goal props, especially late in the season. The Steelers have one of the largest national fan bases, and they often draw public money in primetime and against division rivals. AFC North games are traditionally physical and low-margin, with Ravens-Steelers games frequently decided by a field goal, making 3 a critical number. Pittsburgh's defensive identity has been durable across eras, which can influence how totals are set.
