New Orleans Saints overview
The New Orleans Saints were awarded to the city on November 1, 1966, All Saints' Day, and began play in 1967. They compete in the NFC South with the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers and play at the Caesars Superdome, a fixed-roof landmark that opened in 1975. Gayle Benson became owner after the death of her husband, Tom Benson, in 2018. The Saints' bond with their city deepened after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, when the team spent a season displaced before returning to a repaired Superdome in 2006.
