Miami Dolphins play in the AFC East.
Miami Dolphins overview
The Miami Dolphins joined the American Football League as an expansion team in 1966 and entered the NFL in the 1970 merger. Owned by Stephen Ross since 2009, they compete in the AFC East with the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots and New York Jets. Miami plays at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, an open-air venue whose 2016 renovation added a canopy shading most seats but not the field. The franchise holds a distinction no other team has matched in the Super Bowl era: a perfect season, completed by the 1972 Dolphins under Don Shula.
Betting insights
Heat and humidity are Miami's signature home variables, particularly in September and October, when visiting teams from northern climates must adjust to sweltering conditions on the field. Kickoff time matters: a 1 p.m. start is a far tougher environment than a night game. The reverse angle applies late in the season, when the Dolphins travel to Buffalo, New England and New Jersey for division games that can bring snow, wind and freezing temperatures, conditions that have historically been difficult for warm-weather teams. Hard Rock Stadium's natural grass and occasional rain showers add variables. In AFC East games, spreads frequently sit around 3, so shopping for the best number matters.
