Los Angeles Chargers play in the AFC West.
Los Angeles Chargers overview
The Chargers were a charter member of the AFL, beginning in Los Angeles in 1960 before moving to San Diego in 1961, where they spent 56 seasons. The team returned to Los Angeles in 2017, playing three seasons at a 27,000-seat soccer stadium in Carson before moving into SoFi Stadium in Inglewood in 2020, which they share with the Rams. The Spanos family owns the franchise. The Chargers compete in the AFC West with the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders, and their famous powder blue uniforms are among the most recognizable in the league.
Betting insights
SoFi Stadium's translucent roof covers the field but the building is open on the sides, so weather is effectively a non-factor and totals are driven by matchups. The bigger home-field consideration is crowd composition. Los Angeles is home to many transplanted fans, and Chargers home games frequently feature large visiting contingents, which can reduce the team's home edge compared with a typical franchise. The Chargers also became known for a long string of close losses in the 2010s and early 2020s, which made late-game situations and key numbers of particular interest to bettors. East Coast road games involve early body-clock kickoffs, and division trips to Denver and Kansas City late in the season bring altitude or cold.
