Kansas City Chiefs play in the AFC West.
Kansas City Chiefs overview
The Kansas City Chiefs were founded by Lamar Hunt in 1960 as the Dallas Texans, a charter member of the American Football League, and moved to Kansas City in 1963. Hunt, who is credited with coining the name Super Bowl, built a franchise his family still owns. The Chiefs compete in the AFC West against the Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers and play at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, an open-air venue renowned for crowd noise. Kansas City won nine consecutive AFC West titles from 2016 through 2024, the defining run in franchise history.
Betting insights
Years of success made Kansas City one of the most popular sides with the betting public, and spreads on Chiefs games can carry a premium, especially in primetime and the postseason. That dynamic means bettors backing Kansas City are often laying more than a neutral rating would suggest. During the Mahomes era, the Chiefs also developed a reputation for close finishes, which makes the difference between -3 and -3.5 or -6.5 and -7.5 especially meaningful. Arrowhead is open-air on natural grass, and late-season games can bring frigid temperatures and wind that affect totals. Division rivals have seen the Chiefs twice a year for decades, and familiarity can narrow margins in AFC West games.
