Indianapolis Colts overview
The Indianapolis Colts trace their history to 1953, when the franchise began play in Baltimore. Owner Robert Irsay moved the team to Indianapolis in March 1984, famously loading equipment onto moving vans overnight. The Irsay family has controlled the club ever since. The Colts compete in the AFC South with the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans, and they play at Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis, a retractable-roof venue that replaced the RCA Dome in 2008. Indianapolis also hosts the NFL Scouting Combine each winter, giving the city a year-round role in the league.
