Denver Broncos play in the AFC West.

Denver Broncos overview

The Denver Broncos began play in 1960 as a charter member of the American Football League and joined the NFL in the 1970 merger. They compete in the AFC West with the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers, rivals that date back to the AFL's first season. Denver plays at Empower Field at Mile High, where an elevation of roughly 5,280 feet gives the franchise one of the most distinctive home environments in professional sports. The Walton-Penner ownership group purchased the team in 2022, and the Broncos are known for one of the league's longest runs of home sellouts.

Betting insights

Altitude is Denver's signature edge. Thinner air can wear on visiting players who arrive without time to acclimate, and kicks travel farther, which expands field goal range and can change fourth-down decisions near midfield. Many oddsmakers assign Denver a slightly larger home-field adjustment than average for that reason, though bettors should avoid overweighting it in an era of advanced conditioning. Weather can turn quickly in Denver, and an early-season snowstorm is possible by October. Kicker props and longest-field-goal markets deserve a second look at Mile High. On the road, East Coast games require a two-hour adjustment, and AFC West trips to Kansas City's Arrowhead have historically been among the toughest on the schedule.
