The Carolina Panthers represent both North and South Carolina from their home in uptown Charlotte. Founded by Jerry Richardson and awarded to the Carolinas in 1993, they began play in 1995 alongside the Jacksonville Jaguars and moved from the NFC West to the newly created NFC South in 2002. Carolina shares a division with the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and David Tepper has owned the team since 2018. The Panthers play at Bank of America Stadium, an open-air venue that opened in 1996 and has used artificial turf since 2021.
