Atlanta Falcons play in the NFC South.
Atlanta Falcons overview
The Atlanta Falcons joined the NFL as an expansion franchise awarded in 1965 and began play in 1966, becoming the Deep South's first NFL team. They compete in the NFC South alongside the New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers, and they play at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta, a retractable-roof venue that opened in 2017. The Falcons have reached two Super Bowls and remain one of the league's franchises still chasing a first championship. Their rivalry with New Orleans is the oldest and most heated in the division, dating back to the late 1960s.
Betting insights
Mercedes-Benz Stadium plays as an indoor venue on artificial turf, which tends to favor speed on offense and removes weather from the totals equation for home games. That fast track can matter when Atlanta hosts outdoor teams built around a power running game. Division travel is relatively light, with New Orleans, Charlotte and Tampa all within a short flight, so fatigue is rarely a factor in NFC South matchups. The Saints series is a true rivalry in which familiarity often narrows the gap between a good team and a struggling one; evaluating whether a spread crosses 3 or 7 is especially important there. Atlanta is a large market but not a nationally public team, so its prices are rarely shaded by recreational betting volume.
