New Orleans Pelicans play in the Western Southwest.
New Orleans Pelicans overview
The New Orleans Pelicans play in the Southwest Division of the Western Conference at Smoothie King Center, next to the Caesars Superdome. The franchise arrived as the Hornets in 2002, spent two seasons largely in Oklahoma City after Hurricane Katrina, and became the Pelicans in 2013. New Orleans has not reached a conference final, and its recent seasons have often been shaped by injuries. For bettors, the Pelicans are a small market with limited public money, so their lines typically follow sharper action. Health and availability are the biggest betting variables, since injuries to key players have repeatedly changed the team's outlook.
Betting insights
Availability is the main betting factor for New Orleans. Injuries to star players have frequently changed the team's outlook, so check the injury report carefully and evaluate how the rotation looks without key contributors. Because public money is light, Pelicans lines are typically efficient. Southwest Division trips to Memphis, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio are short, and New Orleans' Central time zone location eases travel. Late in seasons when the team is out of contention, rest and development minutes can affect sides and props.
