Cleveland Guardians play in the AL Central.
Cleveland Guardians overview
The Cleveland Guardians play in the American League Central at Progressive Field in downtown Cleveland. The franchise played as the Indians from 1915 through 2021 and took the Guardians name in 2022, inspired by the art deco Guardians of Traffic statues on the nearby Hope Memorial Bridge. Cleveland has won two World Series, in 1920 and 1948, and has reached the Fall Classic several more times, including the dramatic seven-game loss to the Cubs in 2016. The organization has a long reputation for developing quality pitching, and its home park can play tight in the cold spring air off Lake Erie, both of which make Guardians games a natural starting point for under bettors.
Betting insights
Cleveland teams have often been built around starting pitching and defense rather than power, and that profile can translate into lower totals and closer games. Progressive Field's lake-effect weather amplifies the pattern in April and May, when temperatures in the 40s are common and the ball does not carry. Because tight games are frequent, bettors may want to weigh moneylines against run lines carefully; a team that often wins by one run can be less attractive laying 1.5. First five innings bets can isolate a strong Guardians starter from bullpen variance. Division rivals play in similar climates, so early-season AL Central totals in general deserve a weather check.
