Oakland Athletics play in the AL West.

Oakland Athletics overview

The Athletics, officially known simply as the Athletics since leaving Oakland, play in the American League West. After 57 seasons in Oakland, the franchise played its final game at the Oakland Coliseum in September 2024 and moved home games to Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento starting in 2025, where it will play while a new ballpark is built on the Las Vegas Strip. The A's have won nine World Series titles across Philadelphia and Oakland. For bettors, the temporary home is the most important factor: a small, minor league ballpark in the Sacramento Valley heat plays very differently from the cavernous, cool Coliseum the franchise left behind.

Betting insights

Sutter Health Park is far smaller than a typical MLB stadium, and in its first season as a major league venue it played as a hitter-friendly environment, helped by hot, dry Sacramento Valley summers. That is a dramatic shift from the Oakland Coliseum, whose huge foul territory and cool night air made it one of baseball's best under parks for decades, so older Athletics home trends should be largely disregarded. Bettors should weight recent park data, temperature and the starting pitchers' fly ball tendencies. The A's also lack a traditional home crowd advantage, and the club's long road trips in a spread-out division create travel spots worth tracking.
