Houston Astros play in the AL West.
Houston Astros overview
The Houston Astros play in the American League West at Daikin Park, the downtown ballpark known as Minute Maid Park from 2002 through 2024. Houston spent its first 51 seasons in the National League before moving to the AL West in 2013, and the franchise has since become one of the most consistent winners in baseball, capturing World Series titles in 2017 and 2022 and reaching seven straight ALCS from 2017 through 2023. The 2017 title remains tied to the sign-stealing scandal that MLB disciplined in 2020. For bettors, Houston offers a climate-controlled home park with a short left field, which is the main reason right-handed power hitters project differently there than in most AL parks.
Betting insights
Daikin Park's left field is short, with the Crawford Boxes sitting about 315 feet from the plate, so right-handed pull hitters can turn routine fly balls into home runs. Center field, by contrast, is deep. The retractable roof is closed for most summer games, which takes Houston heat and storms out of the equation and keeps conditions consistent. Bettors should therefore lean on pitcher handedness, opposing lineup composition and bullpen strength rather than weather. Because Houston has been a perennial contender, its prices can be steep, and the run line or first five innings markets offer alternatives to laying a large moneyline. The Astros' recent success also means they draw strong reactions from both public and sharp bettors.
