Detroit Tigers overview

The Detroit Tigers play in the American League Central at Comerica Park in downtown Detroit. A charter member of the American League, the Tigers have won four World Series titles, in 1935, 1945, 1968 and 1984, and their history includes legends such as Ty Cobb, Al Kaline and Hank Greenberg. Comerica Park is one of the more spacious parks in baseball, with deep alleys that suppress home runs while allowing plenty of doubles and triples. Combined with cool spring weather in Michigan, that makes Detroit a common destination for under bettors. The Tigers' rivalries with Cleveland, Minnesota and Chicago add division stakes to much of the schedule.

Betting insights

Comerica Park's deep center field and wide alleys make it one of the tougher places in baseball to homer, especially for right-handed hitters. That can help Detroit's pitchers and suppress totals, although the large outfield also leaves room for extra-base hits. Weather is another factor: April and early May in Detroit can be cold and windy. Tigers games are often priced as close contests when pitching is strong, and the first five innings line is useful for bettors who trust a Detroit starter more than the bullpen. Day games after night games and doubleheaders after spring rainouts can lead to lineup changes worth checking before betting.
