Chicago Cubs play in the NL Central.
Chicago Cubs overview
The Chicago Cubs play in the National League Central at Wrigley Field on the city's North Side. The franchise dates to 1870 and was a charter member of the National League in 1876, giving it one of the longest histories in American sports. The Cubs famously went 108 years between championships before winning the 2016 World Series. Wrigley is unlike any other park for bettors, because the wind off Lake Michigan can turn the same stadium into either a home run haven or a graveyard for fly balls, often within the same homestand. Chicago's national fan base also means the Cubs are a popular betting team.
Betting insights
At Wrigley, check the wind before anything else. When it blows out toward the bleachers in summer, scoring can jump; when it comes in off the lake, particularly in April and May, the park suppresses fly balls and totals often drop. The Cubs also play more home day games than any other MLB team, which brings day-after-night scheduling and lineup rest decisions into play more often than for most clubs. As one of baseball's most popular teams, Chicago tends to attract public money, so bettors should assess whether a price reflects the matchup or the brand. NL Central opponents tend to play in more moderate parks, so Cubs road totals depend heavily on the venue.
